El bosque For its 50th anniversary, Sofidel Group is pleased to gift its major stakeholders with a mango tree, the happiness tree! The Hindu religion believes Kama, the Indian god of love and fortune, uses mango flower buds to enhance the tips of his arrows. The fruit of the mango contains tryptophan, which is a key ingredient in the production of serotonin, the "happiness hormone". It is also believed that the blossoming of the mango tree brings about love.Sofidel, as part of its commitment to sustainable development, has adopted responsible procurement policies of forest raw materials. In 2015, 99.97% of cellulose procurement was obtained from certified or controlled sources, in accordance with the major certification schemes (FSC; PEFC; SFI). Sofidel is the first Italian company and the first in the world in the tissue paper sector (paper aimed at products for the kitchen, bathroom and personal use), to participate in the international WWF Climate Savers programme, aimed at voluntarily reducing its CO2 emissions. The strategy is based on increasing the use of renewable sources, improving the efficiency of systems and equipment, and investing in co-generation systems. Between 2009 and 2015 Sofidel reduced absolute emissions by 18%. New and challenging goals have been set for the end of 2020, including a 23% reduction in direct CO2 emissions compared to 2009 for every tonne of paper.
