The leaves, pods, and flowers are edible and nutritious; the seeds contain an aromatic oil and the seed press cake or powdered bark can be used for water purification.<o:p></o:p><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size: 10.5pt; line-height: 14.98px; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(32, 33, 34); background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">Markhamia: an important agroforestry tree. It is used as shade tree in crops such as banana, beans and maize, and as a wind break. It is useful for erosion control and soil conservation, and provides good mulch. Its beautiful flowers are a source of nectar for honey bees.<o:p></o:p><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size: 10.5pt; line-height: 14.98px; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(32, 33, 34); background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">Grevillea: this tree is easy to propagate and establish in low-fertility. In addition to their use as a soil mulch, its leaves are used by some farmers as a fodder supplement for cattle when other fodder sources are scarce.<o:p></o:p><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size: 10.5pt; line-height: 14.98px; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(32, 33, 34); background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">Tefrosia: this plant can be very useful for farmers as it can help improve soil fertility, rid pests from storage crops and livestock, and can be used as a pesticide on other crops in the field. It is a cheap solution for farmers without access to veterinary medicine, and can ensure protection of their domestic animals.<o:p></o:p>

EUMETSAT Forest

EUMETSAT is Europe’s meteorological satellite agency monitoring the atmosphere, ocean and climate from space for transforming our world. Based in Darmstadt, Germany, EUMETSAT provides its 30 member states with meteorological imagery and data that are essential for keeping their communities safe and for the benefit of critical sectors of their economies.<o:p></o:p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt; line-height: 15.6933px; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">Four Meteosat satellites in geostationary orbit deliver continuous observations of fast developing severe weather events over Europe, Africa and the Indian Ocean. Two polar-orbiting Metop satellites provide data of pivotal importance for forecasts up to 10 days ahead. The first of the next-generations satellites in these systems will be launched in 2022 and 2024, respectively.<o:p></o:p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt; line-height: 15.6933px; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">EUMETSAT’s archive of satellite observations over more than 40 years provides climate scientists around the world with long-term, homogenous data necessary for monitoring climate change.<o:p></o:p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt; line-height: 15.6933px; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">EUMETSAT is a key partner in the European Union’s Copernicus Earth observation programme. It operates the Copernicus Sentinel-3 and -6 ocean-monitoring missions, and will operate the upcoming CO2M mission, to monitor carbon dioxide emissions.&nbsp;&nbsp; Data from these, and EUMETSAT’s own missions, are provided to the Copernicus climate, atmosphere monitoring and marine environment services. Along with European Space Agency and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, EUMETSAT is a partner in the EU’s DestinE initiative, creating digital twins of the entire Earth system.<o:p></o:p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt; line-height: 15.6933px; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">Together with NASA, NOAA, the EU, ESA and with support from the French Space Agency, CNES, EUMETSAT is a partner in the Jason ocean-monitoring mission. EUMETSAT cooperates with agencies around the world, securing additional satellite data of benefit to weather forecasting and climate monitoring.<o:p></o:p>EUMETSAT has a key role to play in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’s aims. Systematic and global observations of the Earth from space are essential for decision making and policy formulation in all regions of the world.<o:p></o:p>
