The Forest
Portugal recognizes that the UN's Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals are the common vision for humanity, a contract between world leaders and the people and ‘a list of things to do on behalf of the people and the planet’.Leoni Portugal chooses to go one step further in its sustainability strategy. We decide to actively collaborate by creating the 1st Leoni Portugal Forest. We are committed to agroforestry, which goes further than reforestation, which is at the mercy of nature. This initiative consists of giving 250 fruit trees to local communities in Tanzania and Malawi. In this way, we are contributing to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (social inclusion, economic development, food safty and environmental protection) and promoting peace, justice, and effective institutions. We dedicate each one of these trees to our employees and customers, so that they can embrace the sustainable cause with Leoni Portugal.
Impact
The trees we plant have big ambitions: to bring benefits not only to the environment, but also to the people who live in it. That's why we work with NGOs and local communities to select the right tree for the right place and the right purpose. That’s why we think about the medium and long term, because we’re not content with simply planting trees: we want to see them grow.
The trees in the forest will absorb:
73.25 t* of CO₂
