The Forest
In Italy and the United States, Sofidel gifted a tree to each employee on his or her birthday to support environmental and social projects and bring awareness to the issue of sustainability. Through this simple and concrete gesture, Sofidel has supported the work of the non-profit organization COSPE in Senegal and AVSI in Haiti to plant trees in deforested areas. This created a total of 5,000 new trees and provides livelihoods and opportunities for micro entrepreneurship in rural, local communities. In addition, these actions have an even deeper meaning because the tree is a symbol of growth and life. Looking to the future with confidence and optimism: that's how Sofidel operates, and carrying out this project has sought to make its contribution towards the protection of the environment and to support sustainable development.
Impact
The trees we plant have big ambitions: to bring benefits not only to the environment, but also to the people who live in it. That's why we work with NGOs and local communities to select the right tree for the right place and the right purpose. That’s why we think about the medium and long term, because we’re not content with simply planting trees: we want to see them grow.
