The Forest
Global warming due to rising greenhouse gas emissions is a socially and economically relevant environmental factor. We want to be at the vanguard in the fight against climate change and reduce both our own emissions as a company and those of our products. That is why we have set sustainability targets, with the aim of achieving net zero by 2045.The goals we have set are ambitious. For example, by 2030, WACKER intends to cut its absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent relative to 2020. We know that these are ambitious goals and have planned appropriate measures. With our partner Treedom, we have launched an additional campaign: We are jointly planting trees in the WACKER forest to absorb and capture even more carbon from the atmosphere. This has benefits for the environment and for us humans worldwide. Every tree has its own story. And we are part of it. Making net zero happen.
Impact
The trees we plant have big ambitions: to bring benefits not only to the environment, but also to the people who live in it. That's why we work with NGOs and local communities to select the right tree for the right place and the right purpose. That’s why we think about the medium and long term, because we’re not content with simply planting trees: we want to see them grow.
