Planting a tree is the most exemplary gesture of future thinking. An old Sicilian saying quoted: “citrus for our sons, olives for our nephews”, pointing out how farmers were seeding and planting for the next generations rather than for their own interest.&nbsp;This forest is a gift related to the online interview ethics4growth is doing with Riel Miller, the foremost expert in the field of Future Literacy, a stream he developed within UNESCO to help developing communities in designing a brighter future. Each participation in this event corresponds to the plantation of a tree: a symbolic – yet impacting – action representing all those who care and wish to plan the future in a proper way.&nbsp;Every tree will be the icon of the production of human capital, able to understand that the future is not something that happens, rather that is something we – as individuals and as communities – make happen. Designing the future is not foolishness, is science.

THE E4G FOREST FOR THE FUTURE

Ethics4growth is a social innovation studio that offers coaching and consultancy services for social impact startups and companies that want to innovate in the field. The studio is also involved in sustainable/social development projects for territories. In addition to our consulting activities, we are very engaged in outreach actions on our social channels: LinkedIn, Youtube, Instagram and mainly Facebook.  One of our main channels of communication and involvement is the English-speaking community we have created on our Facebook page, with more than 6000 members.  Our community has also been created as a social engagement of the startup, offering free content every month to inspire people in fields related to applied sustainability, social impact concepts and best practices. Many of our followers come from the southern hemisphere and one of our goals is to provide accessible knowledge to those who find it difficult to get it.  To date, we have hosted several members from different organisations such as: THUN, Ashoka, wesostengo.org, Impact Hub, Too Good to Go, etc...  As ethics4growth, we deal with the socio-economic development of the territory, especially sustainability in different sectors, helping small and medium enterprises, start-ups and other organisations in the famous ecological transition. At the moment we are active in some projects in Sicily, Switzerland and Spain to which we give a "glocal" perspective, connecting the territory with international good practices.  We have structured coaching models for researchers who have the desire to turn their academic work into a startup (it is generally aimed more at the traditional sciences, but also in the humanities it finds its application). We have already collaborated with the University of Salento, the University of Manizales, the Autonomous University of Manizales, the Metropolitan University of Tirana and we have participated as a coach in 2 EIT Food Challenge LAb (winning them) and in an event organised between EIT Food and JA Europe.<div> </div>
