When education takes root As an international university, we do not see climate change as a trend, but rather as a duty to work for a greener life. For this reason, we support recognised climate protection projects and actively incorporate the topic of sustainability into our study programmes. Since 2020, IU has also been teaching and working in a climate -neutral way - as the first distance learning university worldwide. Because we have to think ahead With new students, not only IU grows, but also our responsibility. That is why we are constantly working on new innovative tools to make learning more independent, but also greener.&nbsp;We want to make graduates and students with extraordinary goals happy with a personalised tree. Because climate protection is also a matter of education Starting in 2020, the IU online studies team has been teaching and working in a fully climate-neutral way – the first online university to do so worldwide. For this purpose, a personal greenhouse gas balance sheet was drawn up with the help of TÜV Süd, to account for the CO2 emissions of every lecture room, every journey to campus and every e-mail. In addition, an action plan has been drawn up to reduce the level of emissions, which includes switching to sustainable, green energy.
