Cameroon

The diversity of the landscape is one of the features that make this country special. Located in
West-Central Africa, Cameroon has a 400 Km coastline along the Atlantic Ocean: as we move
further inland, the coastal plain breaks up into various plateaus, often covered by equatorial
rainforests. Cameroon has no shortage of mountains: Mount Cameroon (4,095 meters) is one
of the highest summits in Africa.
Treedom started its adventure right in Cameroon in 2010, by developing projects aimed at
planting Cocoa trees, thus improving food safety for the rural population, increasing the local
agricultural resources and offering additional income opportunities.

Spasciani Forest

The Spasciani Forest will rise in Camerun and will be composed of Cacao trees, an evergreen
that produces small, five-petal flowers that are white, green, or rose-hued and sprout directly on
the trunk or principal branches. The lucky flowers develop into the celebrated cocoa pods.
This small but significant amount planted, we hope will lead to high quality cocoa bean
production and to provide local farmers with an additional source of income.
The philosophy we embraced with TREEDOM is to realize sustainable ecosystems and allow
thousands of farmers to support the initial costs of planting new trees, ensuring food autonomy
and income opportunities over time.The benefits are certainly both environmental and social and economic.
In fact, as explained on the project website, the tree species planted are native or respect the
biodiversity of the different territories. The agroforestry practice integrates the planting of trees
in an agricultural system, favoring the virtuous interaction between the different species and a
sustainable use of resources and land. Finally, all trees absorb CO2 in the course of their
growth, naturally generating a benefit for the entire planet.
