Italy is commonly described as a peninsula stretching in the Mediterranean Sea. Actually, in addition to the peninsula area, Italy includes a continental area as well as several islands: although it is a small country, Italy has an extremely varied landscape. The territory is mainly hilly, with mountains occupying more than 35% of the territory. Treedom works with various partners encouraging organic farming. The results of this projects include the creation of a sustainable production and trading chain that has a positive impact on society and on those same seized assets, which have become free croplands and are used to create high quality products using eco-friendly methods.

The cypress is an evergreen tree with a slender, compact shape, capable of reaching considerable heights while maintaining its upright and elegant form. Its leaves are small and scale-like, deep green in colour, and release a distinctive resinous fragrance. It adapts to temperate and Mediterranean climates, tolerates drought well and can grow even in poor or rocky soils. Its resilience makes it a constant presence in hilly and rural landscapes, where it often lines roads and marks natural boundaries. From an environmental perspective, the cypress helps stabilise the soil and provides wind protection. It is a long-lived species, able to accompany a landscape for generations, offering shelter to wildlife and contributing to CO₂ absorption over time.

The cypress grows upward in a clear, essential form, without dispersion. It moves through the seasons without losing its green colour, rooted yet reaching skyward. For this reason, it symbolises strength: the strength of those who remain, who hold their ground even as circumstances change.
