Lemon Tree

The lemon tree is a natural hybrid, genetically derived from the cross between citron (Citrus medica) and bitter orange (Citrus aurantium), the latter itself being a hybrid of mandarin and pomelo. Its genome, recently sequenced, contains around 35,000 genes, which are essential for studying disease resistance and improving agronomic quality. This citrus tree produces beautiful white and violet flowers and wonderfully fragrant fruits. The lemon trade helps local communities by improving their quality of life. This is also true in Tanzania, where our nurseries are led by skilled and determined groups of women.

And beyond all this, by planting this special Limited Edition tree in collaboration with Amref Italia — which has long been committed to fighting gender discrimination in Africa — 15% of the proceeds will go toward supporting Amref Italia’s initiatives.
